Ingredients

Scale

Impossible Burger Filling

  • 34 Impossible Burger patties
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 23 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • ¼ cup chopped pickles
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Cheese

  • 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (use vegan cheddar cheese for dairy-free version)

Pie Crust

  • 1 pre-made pie crust (use gluten-free pie crust for gluten-free version)
  • Butter or oil for greasing the pie dish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Impossible Burger Filling: Crumble the Impossible burger patties into a hot skillet over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onions and minced garlic, cooking until the mixture browns and the onions soften, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in ketchup, mustard, chopped pickles, salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook for a few more minutes, stirring occasionally, to meld the flavors.
  2. Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Crust: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the pie crust and place it into a greased 9-inch pie dish, trimming any excess dough from the edges. Prick the bottom of the crust lightly with a fork to prevent bubbling while baking.
  3. Assemble the Pie: Spread the cooked filling evenly over the prepared pie crust. Sprinkle a generous layer of shredded cheddar cheese over the filling. Optionally, add a second pie crust on top, sealing the edges by crimping and cutting steam vents, or leave it open-faced for a crispier cheese topping.
  4. Bake Until Golden: Place the assembled pie on the middle oven rack and bake for 25-30 minutes, until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese is bubbling. Watch carefully to avoid burning. After baking, let the pie cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing to allow the filling to set.

Notes

  • Use fresh onions, garlic, and pickles for elevated flavors.
  • Avoid overloading the filling to prevent soggy crust; drain excess moisture if necessary.
  • Choose a good melting, flavorful cheese for the best gooey texture.
  • Let the pie rest before serving to ensure clean slices and flavor melding.
  • If using a top crust, create steam vents to allow gases to escape during baking.
